Tournaments

We have moved into organizing and running tournaments in Leadership. We started with a Forest Gump Ladder Ping Pong Tourney a few weeks ago and just finished learning how to set up a run a Badminton Double-Elimination Tournament. Congratulations to all our tournament winners who earn the privilege to pose for a photo with the prestigious Leadership trophy.

Leadership Gives to the Good Shepherd Food Bank

This morning we brought our donated food down to the Animal Sciences scale. Our donations totaled 274lbs which made us the top Grade 12 class as well as the top class in the school! The food accumulated was truly a team effort. Special thanks to Julia who put us over the top this morning with her last minute soup donations. Breakfast Friday !

Finally......... Football Buy In Success!

Concession Sellers Extraordinaire!

After a two week delay from the cancellation of the first buy in (due to circumstances beyond our control), the Jr. Football Buy in went off without a hitch.  Banting students enjoyed getting their faces painted and filling up on popcorn, pop, chocolate, candy, chips and freezies at the concession. My highlight was the Leadership students who came up with the idea of walking the track to sell freezies and junk!
We ended up selling an additional 120 tickets and will be donating the money to the local Good Shepherd Food Bank as part of our schools food drive. Next time mascot Mo will make an appearance.

YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre

Amazing day at Cedar Glen

When we arrived at Cedar Glen we were greeted by our leaders Jordie, Will and Alyssa and shown where to store our bags. Then, Jordie and Will led us through a number of icebreakers and team building initiatives on the main field. We started with switching spots with those we had something in common with and then quickly moved to opponent slapping and finger jousting. We learned who in the group can do the splits and unscrammbled 11 letters to create justoneword. Some tasks were more frustrating then others. We were really quick at throwing the dinosaurs in a sequence and sending the marble down the bobsled into the bucket. Through patience and teammwork we moved the pyramid of five blocks from one end to the other with the morning shift, day shift and evening shifts and placed the zoom cards in order.

Before lunch we headed to the maze where Magen became our sardine and learned how strong Aly is in the low ropes course.

Lunch in the dining hall was chili, buns and salad. We had some down time before our afternoon session and played a game of beach volleyball.

Random fun!
The afternoon turned out to be a highlight for many. We spent three hours on the High Ropes Adventure Course. This unique opportunity allowed many of us to face some of our fears and challenge ourselves in new and exciting ways. We encouraged and supported each other and knew we always had our partners to give us permission to climb. Tony was an outstanding instructor and allowed us to be the first group to climb the upper level.
